Tihomir Basarab, the father of Basarab I, ruled over the area of present-day Oltenia. Some historians suggest he might have been the son of Seneslau, who united the knyazates of Litovoi and Seneslau into one.
It is said that after the victory at Posada, Basarab I built a church and erected three stone pillars. One of these pillars was discovered near Tihomir’s grave. The pillar bears several inscriptions, one of which, when translated, reads:
“Glory to the departed, the brave Tihomir Basarab! Eternal glory to him!”
The pillar has been relocated and placed in front of the Titești Town Hall.
