The village of Cucoiu (the old village) was abandoned 50 years ago due to heavy rains and torrents that flowed over the houses, forming swamps and lakes, which compromised the structural integrity of the homes.
When landslides endangered the old village of Cucoiu, the community came together, and the local commune provided land for new homes. The entire village was relocated to the edge of Calea Mare—the old road of Loviştea.
