VIA VALAHIA – TARA LOVISTEI

Via Valahia represents a cultural and touristic adventure, a journey through the essence of the Romanian nation, created by the Vidraru Mountain Association in 2020. The purpose of this route is to highlight the history and cultural landmarks that define us as a nation in a unique way.

Via Valahia can be traveled with family or friends, on foot or by bicycle, through amazing places full of history and stories, offering memorable experiences. The cultural route connects historical and cultural landmarks, from over 2000 years old to several hundred or tens of years old.

Starting from Vama de la Genune, Via Valahia crosses Tara Lovistei on the Calea Mare, a Roman road, and passes through Culmea Clocotici to Salatrucu. From there, it reaches Vlad the Impaler’s Fortress in Poienari, then Corbeni, Bradet, Nucsoara, and the oldest rock-hewn church in Romania, Corbi de Piatra. From Corbi, it reaches the first capital of Wallachia, Campulung Muscel, and then Namaiesti and Mateias, descending along the Dambovita Valley to Cetateni and ending in Targoviste.

With approximately 150 km between Caineni Valcea and Targoviste, Via Valahia can be traveled in full or in part, on foot or by bicycle, according to each traveler’s preferences. Moreover, information about accommodation, meals, or other specific details for each area will be available.

“Come and discover the beauty and history of these places through Via Valahia!”
